Vecchio Magazzino Doganale, established in 1871 during the Belle Époque era, introduced the "Amaro Importante Jefferson," a natural amaro crafted with meticulously chosen ingredients from across Calabria.
The revival of the bitter “Jefferson” is credited to Ivano Trombino, who was inspired after inheriting a suitcase filled with his grandfather's diaries, narratives, and research from his time in Italy. Profoundly influenced by these writings, Ivano embarked on a journey in Calabria with a group of friends. Through the years, this circle developed the expertise and methods necessary to create a distinctive liqueur that mirrored their unique characteristics.
Vecchio Magazzino Doganale takes great care in producing this remarkable amaro. They grow and handpick botanicals, incorporating a blend of bitter and sweet oranges from Calabria, rosemary from Montalto Uffugo, oregano from Palombara, and bergamot from Roccella Ionica. To enrich the flavor, additional spices and bitter herbs like gentian, rhubarb, lemon, and vanilla are individually infused.
