Part of the reason DeKuyper® cordials are so good is that we have been making them as a labor of love for generations. In fact, the word cordial derives from the Medieval Latin cordiālis, meaning of or for the heart.
Cordials are amongst the oldest spirits in the world. They're a key ingredient in many of the most popular shots and cocktails. The terms “cordial” and “liqueur” are often used interchangeably and both refer to the same type of product.
Cordials and liqueurs are defined as products obtained by mixing or redistilling distilled spirits with or over fruits, plants, or pure juices, or other natural flavoring materials, or with extracts derived from infusions, percolation, or maceration of such materials, and containing sugar not less than 2.5 percent by weight of the finished product. This standard varies by country based on cultural traditions.
