Born in 2004, Juan Vásquez is one of the youngest producers we work with in Logoche. Over the last number of years, Juan has been working under the guidance of his father, Florencio, and aunt and uncle Paula Aquino and Hermógenes Vásquez. He has only recently begun to make his own batches, from harvest to distillation and composition, but his superb tutelage is evident in the quality of everything he has made to date. This batch was made with 100% capón agave harvested from a hilly parcel of red, white, and rocky parcel of family land. Approximately 900kg of two-year capón wild Bicuixe plants and nearly equal weight of one-year capón Espadín were harvested in the days surrounding the full moon of late September 2021, and crafted into 200L of a sweet, savory, and complex batch typical of the region. We selected this field blend not only because it is a fantastic representation of the craft and terruño of the region, but also to encourage and support the young producers of Logoche.
