Jura is a small island off the West Coast of Scotland, just north and east of Islay. It is only 28 miles long and 7 1/2 miles wide. In face, there are only 180 people who populate the island. The Isle of Jura distillery is known for the soft water and sea air, which shows in the whisky.
As Mr. Tait mentioned when he was here, they are known as the "Highland Malt on the Island." The 16 year old is awesomely rich, yet restrained with subtle toffee, cocoa, and baking spices. It is delicately balanced and succeeds on every level.
