The Tercerunquinto 2023 Edition is a limited edition release of the Reserva De La Familia Extra Anejo, produced in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Jose Cuervo distillery. This special edition comes in a 2.5-liter bottle, making it a unique addition to any tequila collection.
Made using only the flavorful inner portion of hand-selected blue agave plants. The agave cooks at the distillery La Rojeña for 48 hours total – 36 hours through direct vapor and then 12 more hours with just its own heat.
Invariably, Tercerunquinto's work processes start from the recognition of the context that is presented to them, in the manner of a field investigation. Either approaching this context through distinctive sculptural interventions, which seek to generate dynamics of social participation, or producing graphic and pictorial works more in the classic sense of a workshop, the collective's production is characterized by the work of destructuring the formal legacies of the recent history of art, putting in tension some of its main concepts and ideas.
The artists' first visit to the Tequila Valley allowed them to prepare a brief body of pictorial work, based on an aesthetic synthesis of the most recognizable forms of the agave landscape, and making use of the modern languages of geometric abstraction. Tercerunquinto's gaze and thoughts aim to unravel the dimension of geological time, which has little to do with our brief passage through these lands, but which has left us with a series of elements that artists have observed and represented from different traditions. The texture organizes the brightness of the obsidian, the roughness of the tezontle and the softness of the skin of the agave. The volcanic event that produced this landscape that now confronts us, and the unfinished nature of these paintings. which is an attempt to aesthetically structure a part of the landscape, are artistic testimony of a form of modern time.
